MLA demands complete withdrawal of Dogra Certificate
'Separatists’ stand vis-a-vis census commendable'
GK NEWS NETWORK
Srinagar, Apr 7: Terming the government’s willingness to amend the “Dogra Certificate” as “acceptance of its wrongdoing,” MLA Langate Er Rasheed on Thursday demanded the complete cancellation of the controversial certificate. He also expressed satisfaction about the census result which has registered increase in the population of the Valley.
In a statement here Rasheed said that by conceding to amend the controversial Dogra Certificate, the government had accepted its wrongdoing. “Government’s willingness to make amendments in the certificate has proved there is really something fishy about the issue,” he maintained.
Saying that the proposed amendment in the certificate issue would not suffice to clear the popular apprehensions, he demanded its complete withdrawal. “In presence of a state subject certificate, there is no need of any other certificate for the people,” he asserted.
The MLA Langate yet again lamented that the not a single legislator shared his concern regarding the issue when he raised it in the Assembly recently. “It is strange that the same members and their parties now issue press statements while as they didn’t utter a single word about it when it was really needed in the House. Such opportunistic politicians are trying to befool the people by posing as their saviours,” he said.
Meanwhile, Rasheed expressed satisfaction over the outcome of the census results, which has revealed an increase in Valley population. “The true figures have come out in the latest census as compared to census-2001. It is heartening that Valley population has registered an increase of seven percent,” he observed.
He said that the real census figures would guarantee an equitable development in all the regions and sub-regions of the state. He congratulated the people for enthusiastically participating in the census.
“The separatists too deserve appreciation for they encouraged people to participate in this vital exercise which has political and economic significance.
