Srinagar, Apr 8: Killing of Jamaiat-Ahl-hadith president Moulana Showkat, killed in an IED explosion at Maisuma here on Friday, has shocked separatists, religious leaders and traders across the Valley.
Chairman of Hurriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Shah Geelani termed the killing of Moulana’s killing as barbaric. “This is a barbaric act and worst form of terrorism. People behind such a heinous act cannot be described as humans. It is worst form of terrorism,” Geelani told Greater Kashmir.
He expressed shock over the Moulana’s killing. “We condemn the act and want perpetrators to be brought to book,” he added.
Geelani described it is an irreparable loss for people of the state. “We have lost a great religious scholar. Moulana’s killing has left a void not only in the society but in the ongoing movement. The killing is the handiwork of the anti-Kashmiri and anti-Islam elements,” Geelani said.
He said he could not participate in the funeral of Moulana Showkat as he was put under house arrest.
The JKLF Chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik said, "Moulana’s death has broken our back. I will not rest till I unveil his killers," Malik said. “I have lost a close friend and it’s a personal loss. His killing has created a void. We condemn this inhuman act.”
He said that Kashmiri people would not remain a silent spectator to the killing of their leader..
The Chairman of Hurriyat Conference (M) Mirwaiz Umar Farooq termed Moulana’s killing as barbaric and unfortunate.
“This is a direct attack on the Muslims of Kashmir. The killers behind this inhuman act should be exposed. The motive of killings from Mirwaiz Moulvi Muhammad Farooq to Moulana Showkat during past 21- years was to deprive Kashmiris from their leaders and intellectuals,” Mirwaiz said.
Senior Hurriyat (M) leader Nayeem Khan termed Maulana’s killing as an inhuman act. “This is an act of enemies of the people of Kashmir who are hell-bent to divide the society and create wedge among people,” he said.
He appreciated Moulana’s role in the resistance movement and his services at social, educational and religious level.
“The killing of Moulana Showkat is a well thought plan of Intelligence Agencies in order to divide the pro-freedom fraternity. I urge the pro-freedom leaders and factions of Jamiat-e-Ahlihadis to be united in order to foil the evil designs of the enemy,” he said.
Engineer Hilal Ahmad War, Chairman, People’s Political Party ( PPP) condemned the brutal killing saying, “ Killing of Moulana Showkat was a well thought plan of intelligence agencies in order to divide the pro-freedom fraternity.”
Democratic Liberation Party chairman Hashim Qureshi, while expressing grief and sorrow over the killing, termed it an act of extreme terrorism. “The Killing is aimed at depriving the Kashmiris of their religious leadership,” he said, demanding an impartial probe into the killing and exemplary punishment to the killers.
He advised separatist leaders and factions of Jamiat-e-Ahlihadis to remained united in order to foil the designs of the enemies.
The president of Younis Markazi Jamiat-e-Gurbai Ahlihadis, Zaldagar, Moulana Muhammad expressed deep sorrow, terming the killing as a great loss to whole Umah in general and people of Jammu Kashmir in particular.
Jama’at-e-Islami Jammu Kashmir has termed the killing as a part of conspiracy to create in atmosphere of civil war in Kashmir. It has stressed that the Muslims of Jammu Kashmir should together fight to foil these conspiracies.
Amir Jama’at, Sheikh Ghulam Hassan prayed for martyred leader and sympathized with his family.
Jamiat-e-Hamdaniya chief patron Mirwaiz Moulana Riyaz Hamdani, while expressing deep sorrow, termed the killing as highly condemnable. “It is great loss to the Muslims of Jammu Kashmir,” he said.
President of Kashmir Traders and Manufacturers’ Federation, Muhammad Yaseen Khan expressed deep sorrow over the killing, and termed it as a great loss for Islamic World.
Noted scholar and joint secretary general Majlis Itihad-i-Milat Ghulam Ali Gulzar, while expressing deep sorrow, termed Moulana Showkat’s killing as a great loss to Umah.
Condemning the killing, Anjuman-e-Shara-e-Shiaan President Aga Syed Hassan Mosvi prayed for peace to the departed soul and expressed sympathies with the bereaved family.
The chief patron of Jammu Kashmir Iteihad-ul-Muslimeen Moulana Abass Ansari termed it a conspiracy to create a wedge between people to weaken the ongoing movement. He has appealed to the people to scuttle conspiracies of enemy.
Traders’ Association, Islamabad (Anantnag) while expressing deep sorrow over the killing, termed it highly condemnable.
Peoples’ Freedom League has expressed shock and sorrow over the killing, terming it a highly condemnable inhuman act.
Jammu Kashmir Mass Movement has strongly condemned the killing and prayed for speedy recovery of injured.
Jammu Kashmir Mahaz-e-Aazadi chief patron has also expressed profound grief and sorrow over the killing.
The president of Jamiat-e-Himayat-ul-Islam Maulvi Khursheed Ahmed Qanungo also condemned the killing.
Chairman Jammu and Kashmir People’s Freedom League, Muhammad Farooq Rehmani termed the killing as an irreparable loss to Kashmiri nation.
“The perpetrators of the awful crime are hell-bent on disrupting communal harmony in the Valley,” the APHC-M convener Mehmood Ahmed Saghar said.
The convener of APHC-G Ghulam Muhammad Safi termed the killing as a great loss to the Muslim Ummah. “The perpetrators of the dastardly act should be brought to justice,” he said.
JKLF leader Rafique Ahmed Dar demanded an independent probe to what he said expose the culprits behind the killing.
The Kashmir Chamber & Commerce & Industry (KCC&I) and Kashmir Hotel and Restaurant Owners Federation have also condemned the killing
The President JK Anjuman-e Sharie Shian, Aga Syed Muhamamd Fazlullah has also condemned the killing of Moulana Showkat.
