Boy killed, 6 hurt in road accidents

Srinagar, July 31: A 7-year-old boy was killed and six others injured in different road accidents across the Valley.
A Sumo (JK05B-1776) hit and critically wounded a boy Naveed Ahmad Parray, 7, son of Ghulam Ahmad of Kochak Mohalla Hajin at Hajin Bazar, Bandipora police said, adding the wounded Naveed was shifted to SKIMS, Soura where he succumbed to injuries. The body was handed over to family for last rites, police said adding a case had been registered.
In another incident, a Sumo (JK01B-9073) hit a motorcycle (JK01B-1661) at Chunti Pathri Baba Reshi, Tangmarg Baramulla injuring the rider Muhammad Ayub Khan son of Haji Shahzad Ahmad of Fresthar Baramulla, police said adding the wounded had been hospitalized and a case registered.
A motorcycle (JK01N-1664) hit and injured a girl, Nisara Akhter, 23, daughter of Abdul Rashid Wani of Safapora at Chewa, Ajas Sumbal Bandipora, police said adding the wounded had been hospitalized.
A motorcycle hit and critically injured a pedestrian, Abdul Sattar Wani son of Assadullah Wani of Ladoo at Ladoo, Awantipora police said, adding the wounded had been shifted to hospital.
A car hit an electric pole near stone crusher at Humhama, Budgam injuring three persons including the driver, police said adding all the wounded were shifted to hospital.


MAN SLIPS INTO NALLAH
A man Javed Ahmad Sofi, 27, son of Muhammad Sultan of Aang Matipora slipped into Nallah Lidder near Rakhi Chee, Islamabad (Anantnag) police said, adding efforts were on to fish out the body.


1 HURT IN MISHAP
A man was wounded when he fell from the roof top of a bus at Magam.
Khursheed Ahmad Sheikh son of Abdul Gaffar of Alochi bagh, Srinagar who was sitting on the roof top of a bus (JKE-2676) which was on way from Srinagar to Khag got in contact with an electric wire, police said adding Khursheed fell from the roof top at check Post Magam, Budgam and sustained injuries.
He was shifted to SMHS, for treatment, police said.


CANNABIS DESTROYED
A joint team of police, Excise department and Revenue headed by Deputy Superintendent of Police Nainapora destroyed cannabis cultivation over 500 kanals of land in villages Wandena and Mailhura, Shopian.

Charas seized,2 held
Police at Rainawari here arrested two persons recovering about 1 kilogram of charas besides 195 bottles of Codelite from them.
According to police, the arrested have been identified as Abdul Majid Anchari son of Abdul Rehman and Nazir Ahmad Surkha son of Muhammad Siddiq both residents of Anchari Mohalla, Rainawari.


18 GAMBLERS ARRESTED
Police arrested 18 gamblers in three different raids at Rainawari here.
Police raided three gambling dens at Mian Shah Sahib, Malapora and Dagga Mohalla and arrested 18 gamblers seizing proceed of Rs 40357.


HOUSE, COWSHED DAMAGES IN FIRE  
During Saturday night, fire broke out in the house of Ghulam Hassan Lone and cowshed of Assadullah son of Hyder of Dirhama, Islamabad (Anantnag) causing damages to both the structures.
