United XI defeats Green XI by 4-wickets in final
J&K POLICE T-20 CHAMPIONSHIP
Srinagar, July 31: United-XI Saloora defeated Green-XI in the final match of the J&K Police T-20 Cup today at Shaheed Commando Shabir Malik Stadium Gadoora in Ganderbal.
Batting first Green-XI scored 98 runs in the stipulated 20 overs with Nazir scoring 33 runs. For United-XI Qaisar and Owais claimed two wickets each. The calibrated bowling attack by United-XI restricted Green-XI to a below par score.
In reply United-XI after suffering initial set back of losing wickets in quick succession at one end managed to steer and stabilize the innings with a stunning middle order performance by Reyaz and Ashraf. Opening batsman Mehraj-Ud-Din remained steadfast on other end and scored 37 runs. United-XI won the match in 18th over with four wickets in hand. Muhammad Ashraf of United-XI was declared Man of the Match, whereas Nisar Ahmad of Barsoo-XI was declared Man of the toruanment.
The event was organized by J&K Police District Ganderbal in collaboration with Awami Behbood Committee Ganderbal. 64 teams consisting of about 1500 sportspersons of the District participated in the tournament while hundreds of spectators watched these matches with great interest.
A large number of people especially youth had poured into watch the final match today. DIG, Central Kashmir Range A.G. Mir who was the Chief Guest on the occasion distributed the prizes among winner and runner up teams. Deputy Commissioner, Ganderbal, Showkat Ahmad Mir was the guest of Honor.
The winning team was awarded with a cash prize of Rs 8000, sports kits and uniforms for all players, whereas the runners up were rewarded with cash prize of Rs 5000 sports kits and uniforms for all players. Besides cash prizes and medals were also presented to man of the match, man of the series and organizing body.
