'India, Pakistan welcomed dialogue process during talks'

New Delhi, Aug 10: During the recently held Defence Secretary-level talks between India and Pakistan, both sides welcomed the ongoing dialogue process and acknowledged that the ceasefire on the Line of Control (LoC) was holding since November 2003, Government told the Rajya Sabha today.
"Defence Secretary level-talks between India and Pakistan on Siachen were held on May 30-31, 2011 in New Delhi. Both sides welcomed the ongoing dialogue process," Defence Minister A K Antony said in reply to a question on discussions between the two countries.
"Both sides acknowledged that ceasefire was holding since November 2003 and presented their positions and suggestions towards the resolution of Siachen," he said.
The Minister told the House that both sides agreed to continue the discussion and to meet again at a mutually convenient date in Islamabad.
Replying to a question on infiltration in Jammu and Kashmir, he said, "As per the assessment of Multi Agency Centre (MAC), till June 2011, 52 militants attempted to infiltrate as compared to 489 in the year 2010."
