836 British India coins found

Rajouri, Aug 10: A man Wednesday found 836 coins of British India period from his field at a village in this border district and handed it over to police.
 SSP, Rajouri, V.K. Sambyal told reporters  that police have taken the  custody of  836 coins of British Rule, found form a filed at village Dassel in Rajouri.
 “Jagdish Raj son of Lal Chand of Dassel found the coins when a JCB engaged by him was digging his field for construction of a house in his native village,” the SSP said.
 He informed that during the digging of land, Rajesh Kumar- driver of the JCB- found some coins in the ground and informed the owner of the land.
 “They again started digging the land and found 836 coins of British India,” the police official said, adding police, on receiving information rushed to the spot and took over the custody of the coins.
 The coins, he said, will be handed over to the Archaeological Survey of India.
 Giving details, he said that 68 coins of one ruppee, 127 coins (silver) of 50 paisa, 151 coins of 25 paisa, 166 coins of two Anana, and 324 coins of one Anana were recovered from the place.
