Expedite probe: Court to SIT

Srinagar, Aug 10: The trial Court on Wednesday asked the Special Investigation Team (SIT) to expedite the probe in the case of teenage boy Tufail Matoo, killed allegedly by a police teargas shell last year in Old City.    
 “Case Diary File was produced by the SIT but no positive results have been achieved. The SIT shall expedite the probe and take all steps to come out with some results on next date,” said the court order.
 Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Srinagar also directed that necessary orders shall be passed in the case if the SIT fails to come out with some results of investigation.
 Counsel for the victim’s family, Muhammad Altaf Khan argued before the Court that police was trying to confuse the investigation by resorting to delaying tactics. “No steps are being taken by the Police to nab the culprits the investigation is going on at snail’s pace. It seems Police are shielding the culprits,” the counsel argued.
 The Court has directed that the case be posted for its next hearing on August 24, 2011.
