High Court quashes 11 PSA detentions

Srinagar, Aug 11: High Court on Thursday quashed detention orders of eleven detainees who were detained under Public Safety Act.
The detainees whose detention orders were quashed are: Farooq Ahmad Wandoo son of Ghulam Qadir Wandoo of Baramulla, Javeed Ahmad Zargar son of Wazir Ahmad Zargar of Baramulla, Mehraj Ahmad Bhat son of Abdul Reham Bhat of Pwlwama, Tariq Ahmad Ganie son of Muhammad Ganie of Shopian, Azad Ahmad Shah son of Muhammad Subhan Shah of Islamabad (Anantnag) Mukhtar Ahmad Kumar son of Ghulam Muhammad Kumar of Hazratbal Srinagar, Shabir Ahmad Ganie son of Ghulam Mohudin Ganie of HMT Srinagar, Nayeem Ahmag Wani son of Ghulam Mohudin Wani of Handwara, Farooq Ahmad Rather son of Ali Muhammad Rather of Gutpora Budgam, Reyaz Ahmad Trumkroo son of Muhammad Subhan of Sopre, Jehangir Ahmad Malik son of Nazir Ahmad Malik of Botengoo Sopore.
While the petitioners were represented by the counsels, Mian Abdul Qayoom, Mir Shafqat Hussain, G N Shaheen, S M S Geelani, S R Hussain , B A Tak, the state was defended by N A Shah, M A Thakur, Nusrat Shaheen and Hilal Ahmad Lone.
