Surankote, Aug 13: While police today claimed that it has set August 20 deadline to solve the fake encounter case, where a mentally challenged person was killed, the two accused persons today told the media persons that they had purchased the revolver, which was shown to be weapon recovered from the site of ` encounter’- for Rs 25000.
The arrested Territorial Army soldier and Special Police Officer ( SPO) were Saturday produced before media by the police, here today.
The Territorial Army soldier Abdul Majid Hussain ( of 156 TA) and SPO Noor Hussain told reporters that they were alone in hatching conspiracy to stage fake encounter.
“ We picked up the victim from Gujjar Mandi Chowk of Rajouri and hired a room in Krishna Hotel of Rajouri and spend a night there. Then, we arranged a vehicle to Bafliaz and from Bafliaz to Pamrot we hired another vehicle, leaving pervious in Bafliaz,” Abdul Majid, the TA soldier said.
On reaching Sangla village, Noor Muhammad, the SPO, said “ We purchased a revolver from Abdul Haq of Rs 25, 000 to execute the plan in Hari forests of Surankote on August 6, 2011.” “ We killed the insane man first and after- half- an- hour informed the police about the presence of the militant commander in Hari forests,” they confessed while saying no other person was involved in the fake encounter expect them.
Earlier, SSP Poonch, Ashkoor Wani, informed that police have set August 20, 2011 as dead line to complete the investigation into the fake encounter.
“ We will send the DNA samples for testing probably on Monday to the laboratory for its testing and the report would be received within five days. We have decided to complete the investigation into the encounter by August 20,” Ashkoor Wani told media.
Referring to the encounter, SSP said, “ The police had become suspicious with the recovery of a revolver from the site of ` encounter’ as the weapon was not in working condition and no bullet can be fired from it”, he said.
