Ahead of I Day, Army, Police intensify vigil

Jammu, Aug 13: Army and police have intensified its vigil in twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch amid reports that a group of heavily armed militants has reportedly managed to sneak into this side from Balakote sector in Mendhar tehsil of Poonch district.
Well informed sources said that the central intelligence agencies have intercepted communication between the militants which indicate that a group of militants has managed to sneak into this side.
“A group of eight to ten militants successfully sneaked to this side of border from the Choor Gali area in Balakote sector on Line of Control last night”, sources claimed adding that the reports were also authenticated from the fact that the border fence was found cut at two places.
“A patrol party of army has noticed that the fence has been cut at two places in Choor Gali,” sources added.
However, Brigadier General of Staff (BGS) 16 Crop, J.S. Cheema, when contacted denied reports, saying no infiltration has taken place from the Balakote sector.
“We have confirmed but no such infiltration has taken place on ground,” BGS 16 Crop, further said.
Army had sounded an alert along the LoC and International Border to thwart any infiltration bid ahead of the I-Day celebrations.
