GK NEWS NETWORK
Srinagar, Aug 14: The attendants of patients visiting the emergency block of SMHS hospital have complained that the ailing persons were suffering immensely due to the closure of the elevator.
The attendants told Greater Kashmir that severely ill patients, especially the elder persons, were finding it difficult to climb the stairs on way to the medical and surgical causality, situated on the first floor. “Many of the patients are carried by attendants on their shoulders while others use trolleys to ferry them,” the attendants said, adding the patients accompanied by females alone had to seek help from the passer-by to carry the patients to the causality.
The attendants said the matter, regarding the defunct elevator was repeatedly brought into the notice of administration, but to no avail. “We fail to understand as to why the administration is behaving like a mute spectator,” the attendants said.
Pertinent to mention that the emergency block of SMHS was inaugurated by the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah few months ago.
When contacted an official at the hospital said there was “some problem with the elevator and it’ll be rectified.”
