‘Tree Talk’ celebrates golden jubilee
Srinagar Tree Talk, a popular forest and environment awareness programme launched in Jammu & Kashmir in December 19 last year, celebrated its Golden Jubilee at Nowshera in Jammu.
The ‘Tree Talk’ which began in Jammu University, celebrated its silver jubilee in emporium garden Srinagar and for the celebration of its golden jubilee, venue was chosen as Nowshera forest where over 100 participants comprising academicians, administrators, forest and police officers, school and college Principals, teachers and students, villagers, members of civil society participated in three hour long discussion. It focused on strategies to achieve better management of forests, wildlife and environment to have sustainable agriculture, horticulture and fisheries.
‘Tree Talk’ participants discussed local names and utilities of attractive monsoon herbs like Phumman. Tree poetry was also recited by Capt Moti Ram, Nidhi Anand and students. Prominent persons who deliberated in the tree talk programme included J C Sawhney, Principal Higher Secondary School Kulwant Kaur, Mycologist Nidhi Anand, Sunita Kur, Additional S P, Dr Kushal Kumar, Deputy S P, G L Sharma, DFO Nowshera, Dr V S Senthil Kumar, Principal New National Public School, P R Khokhar, Aslam Pervez, Rakesh Saraf, Muhammad Jameel, forest staff, teachers and students of TM P School, New National Public School, government higher secondary School Nowshera.
