Separatists remain under house arrest

Srinagar, Aug 1: Entire separatist leadership including chairmen of both factions of the Hurriyat Conference remained under house detention on Monday.
Chairman of Hurriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Shah Geelani remained under house arrest for the sixth consecutive day today.
“Geelani Sahab was again prevented by police from going to Sopore to offer condolences with the family of the deceased youth Nazim Rashid Shalla who was killed in SOG custody. We will go to the town at any cost,” spokesman of the amalgam Ayaz Akbar said.
Hurriyat (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and other separatist leaders including Shabir Shah, Moulvi Abbas Ansari and Shahid-ul-Islam also remained under house arrest.
