Police solves murder case of Kupwara man, arrest 2
Srinagar, Aug 19: Police has claimed to have solved the disappearance and subsequent murder of Fayaz Ahmad Lone son of Ghulam Nabi of Tangwari Gulgam of Kupwara by arresting two persons.
Police said the arrested have been identified as Arif son of Bashir Ahmad Ganaie of Wachi Shopian and Sonu son of Mukhtar Singh of Nargil Jalandhar, Punjab, adding a vehicle registration number (JK09-6670) which the Fayaz was driving and the mobile of the deceased had been recovered.
According to police, during investigation Sonu Singh revealed that he along with Arif Ahmad, with whom he was dealing in illegal Phukki trade had hatched a conspiracy regarding stealing of vehicle and subsequent intoxication of the driver. “The stolen vehicle was supposed to be traded for illegal Phukki. Sonu and Arif were in touch with each other from last two months. On July 20, Arif met Sonu at Jammu where they finalized their plan. On the pretext of hiring the vehicle to Samba, the accused went to taxi stand and motivated Fayaz Ahmad Lone the driver of vehicle to proceed with them towards Samba. On reaching Samba the driver asked for payment. However, the accused expressed that they could not pay but will be able to give money pay if he (Fayaz) drops him at Amritsar. Later on, the accused persuaded him to reach Tarantarn. On reaching Tarantarn, the accused along with associates succeeded in offering coke mixed with intoxicating tablets to Fayaz Ahmad Lone. As a result of this Fayaz got unconscious and was later thrown into Bangali Grahat Canal by the accused.”
During investigation, police said, it also came to surface that an unidentified decomposed body was recovered from the same Canal by police station Voltaha Tarantarn, Punjab on August 3. “The clothes recovered from the body were identified as that of Fayaz’s by his relatives,” police said adding mobile and vehicle of deceased had also been recovered from the possession of the accused.
MAN ELECTROCUTED IN KULGAM
A man was electrocuted in his home at Okey in Kulgam, police said.
According to police spokesman, the deceased has been identified as Nazir Ahmad Wani, 45, son of Ghulam Muhammad.
1 INJURED IN ROAD MISHAP
A car bearing registration number (JK0407162) hit and injured a pedestrian, Me’raj-ud-Din Dar alias Farooq, 25, son of Abdul Majid of Darambugh Kralpora near Darambugh, Budgam, police said, adding the wounded had been hosiptalised.
POLICE PUBLIC MEET HELD
Superintendent of Police, District Handwara conducted a police-public meet in police station Kralgund at Rawalpora for confidence building between the two communities living there. SDPO Handwara, SHO Kralgund and 150 respectables of village were present in the meeting, police spokesman added.
UNIDENTIFIED BODY RECOVERED
Police has recovered an unidentified male body, age 75-years, from Nallah Lidder near village Bagwani Sirgufwara, in Islamabad (Anantnag).
