2 robbers held, fake guns recovered

Srinagar, Aug 22: Police has arrested two robbers seizing fake guns from their possession in Chadoora area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
 According to police spokesman, the arrested have been identified as Riyaz Ahmad Sheikh alias Reyla son of Ghulam Qadir of Alochi Bagh, Srinagar and Zameer Ahmad Shah alias Zameer Pacha son of Ghulam Mohammad Shah of Baghat Barzulla.
 The duo carrying fake weapons (handmade toy guns), police said entered into the house rented by Bihari labourers at Kralpora, Chadoora and robbed them of some cash and two mobile phones. Both have been apprehended and cash worth Rs 3400 and two mobile phones have been recovered, police said adding a case had been registered.

1 KILLED, 25 INJURED IN ROAD MISHAPS
 One person was killed and 25 others including 23 policemen injured in different road accidents in valley.
 A car bearing registration number (DLIYC-1579) hit and critically injured Arif Ahmad Khan son of Liyaqat Khan of Chanapora Tangmarg near Chandilora Tangmarg, police said adding the wounded Arif Ahmad was shifted to Tangmarg hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Police has registered a case in this regard.
 At least 23 policemen were injured when a Tata 407 they were travelling in skidded off the road at Tukroo village in Shopian on Monday.
 The injured were rushed to hospital where from 18 were discharged after first aid. Five cops identified as Sajad Ahmad, Muhammad Ashraf and Shiraz Ahmad have been referred to Srinagar for further treatment.
 In another incident, a car bearing registration number (JK09-5343) hit and injured a pedestrian, Lateef Ahmad Rather son of Abdul Rashid of Gund Chogal near Chogal Handwara, police said adding the wounded had been shifted to SKIMS Soura.
 A car bearing registration number (JK03B-7766) hit and injured a pedestrian, Jamaludin Jaral son of Ikhthar Jaral of Yadbugh Gulab Garh near Panbay Crossing Damhal Hanjipora, Kulgam, police said adding the wounded had been shifted to hospital. Police has registered a case. 

BOY DROWNS IN GANDERBAL
 A boy drowned while taking bath in a stream at Sehpora Ganderbal on Monday.
 Liyaqat Hamid Laway, 16, son of Abdul Hamid Laway of SDA colony Bemina a class 9th student of Kendriya Navodaya Vidalay school Ganderbal died when he along with two other students were taking bath in the stream.

GIRL CONSUMES POISON

 A girl of Pandith Pora Tangmarg attempted suicide allegedly by consuming poisonous substance at her home, police said adding the girl had been shifted to SMHS hospital Srinagar. Police has registered a case.

HOUSE DAMAGED
 Fire broke out in the house of Abdul Rehman Gojri son of Muhammad Sadiq of Chana Mohalla Hazratbal damaging the structure, police said adding no loss of life or injury was reported in the incident. 

HIDEOUT BUSTED IN KULGAM
 Kulgam Police along with 62 RR busted a hideout in a natural cave in the Darnari Forests of Tangmarg area falling under the jurisdiction of police station Damhal Hanjipora.
 According to police spokesman, during the search, one UMG with ammunition belt of 53 rounds, five Kilogram RDX, one Khan dress and two blankets were recovered.
