Coalition committed for equitable dev in JK: Tara

Islamabad (Anantnag), Aug 22: Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand has said the Omar led coalition government was committed to equal development of all the three regions of the State and to provide basic amenities of life to the people, adding that the Centre, under the leadership of Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh and UPA Chairperson, Sonia Gandhi was making liberal funding to the State for the development and prosperity.
 The Deputy Chief Minister was addressing a high level meeting of officers convened at Dooru today to review the implementation of State and centrally sponsored development schemes in Dooru constituency of Islamabad (Anantnag) district.
 Besides, MLA Dooru,   Ghulam Ahmad Mir, District Development Commissioner, Anantnag, Syed Kifayat Hussain Rizvi, Director Local Bodies, Kashmir, Muhammad Afzal, Superintending Engineer, District and Tehsil officers and prominent citizens were present on the occasion.
  “We are thankful to the Central Government for providing liberal funds for completion of numerous R&B, educational, PHE and other welfare schemes, said Tara Chand, adding that the projects coming up will transform the socio economic status of the people, particularly in rural and remote areas.
 The Deputy Chief Minister said the people of the State have suffered a lot during past and government was taking significant measures to rebuild the demanded infrastructure. He said people have great expectations from coalition government, adding officers need to work with dedication to have the targets achieved within stipulated timeframe.
 Tara Chand asked the various implementing agencies of State to make judicious use of funds provided by the Centre, adding that the funds need to be spent fully for the project during current fiscal.
 The Deputy Chief Minister said that the government is answerable and accountable before the public and committed to listen and mitigate the problems of the people. He said public durbars are being held under the instructions of the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah at block and Tehsil levels to listen and address the problems of the people.
  “It should be ensured that benefits of welfare and other developmental schemes will reach to the people especially at grass root level”, he added.
 Speaking on the occasion, MLA, Dooru highlighted the problems being faced by the people and sought early completion of ongoing schemes under RGGVY, MGNREGA, water supply, IAY, PMGSY, etc.
 Earlier, District Development Commissioner, Islamabad (Anantnag) gave brief resume of the achievements in Dooru constituency.
 It was told that Verinag Development Authority is spending Rs. 2.20 crores for the beautification of Dooru-Verinag tourist resort during the current fiscal where as the budget accommodation is also coming up at a cost of Rs. 3.52 crores to attract the tourists at Verinag.
