Srinagar, Aug 22: Jammu and Kashmir Artists Federation has appealed the authorities to release their long pending payments before Eid-ul-Fitr.
“We demand for immediate release of our long pending payments, restoration of all pending programs, proper utilization of funds and public money and running of the station smoothly, otherwise we will launch a mass agitation and protests,” the Federation said in a statement here.
They also appealed Chief Minister and Prasar Bharati Broadcasting Corporation of India to immediately appoint a dynamic station director here, having hold on ethos of the state and familiar with the local media professionals.
“The person should be competent of running the station smoothly and who could solve the day to day problems of the artists and people associated with DDK Srinagar,” they said.
Accusing DDK authorities of step motherly treatment with them, they said every time they have been discouraged and disappointed by the Doordarshan authorities by showing reckless approach with regard to their dignity and payments.
“We are unable to understand that why this is being done only to Kashmiri artists, whereas everywhere in India people associated with other Kendras of Doordarshan get their payments on time and they don’t have to beg before authorities,” they added.
