Leopard kills woman in Handwara

Kupwara, Aug 22: A 35-year-old woman was killed by a leopard in Handwara area of Kupwara district on Monday.
According to SHO Qalamabad, Zameer Hussain, Fareeda Begum wife of Noor Ahmad War was attacked and killed by the wild animal when she came out of her house at Chek-e-Lawoosa village.
Locals said the bears and leopards were on prowl in over a dozen villages in the area. They said over 30 cattle had been mauled by the leopards during the last few days.
The residents of these areas urged the wildlife authorities to take immediate measures in this regard.
