Shopkeepers, flour mill owner fined

Srinagar, Aug 22: A floor mill and some shopkeepers in the City were fined for allegedly violating Essential Commodities norms.
 An official handout said: “The field executives of Legal Metrology Srinagar under the supervision of Dy Controller,(Enforcement) conducted surprise inspection of different markets of  the City and booked  13 traders for violating Packaged Commodities Rules/Weights and Measures laws.”
 “A flour mill was found filling Atta packages of 50 Kg underweight by 700 gram. The manager of the firm was booked on spot and a fine of Rs 6000 was imposed,” the handout added.
 “In another case, a shopkeeper at Bemina was found using false weight of 5 Kg. The false weight was found 100 gram less.”
 A fine of Rs 40,000 was collected from the erring traders during the current month, the handout said.
