Court quashes 7 PSA detentions

Srinagar Aug 23: The High Court on Wednesday quashed seven detention orders of the detainees who were detained under Public Safety Act (PSA) directing for their immediate release if they are not involved in some other case or cases.
The detainees whose detention orders were quashed are: Mubark Ahmad Wani son of Muhammad Ramzan Wani of Anantnag, Jan Muhammad Mir son of Ghulam Muhammad Mir of Bongam Kellar Shopian, Muhammad Yousf Ganie son of Ghulam Ahmad Ganie of Shopian, Muhammad Rustum Lone son of Abdul Aziz Lone of Sogam Kupwara, Fayaz Ahmad Bhat son of Ghulam Qadir Bhat of Anantnag, Rehmatullah Mir of Bandipora.
The counsels for the petitioners, Mir Shafqat Hussain, B A Tak, Muhammad Ashraf Wani, M M Iqbal pleaded before the court that the detention grounds of the detainees were flimsy in terms of law and required to be quashed forthwith while the government was defended by Muhammad Ashraf Thakur, N H Shah and other government counsels.
