Nostalgic today
On Sundays I straight away fix myself on Nostalgia column by ZGM. This is because I rewind my memory to younger days which reminds me of serenity quite in contrast with today's maddening scenario. It is a momentary peace of mind. Thank you ZGM. The schools those days imparted moral education more than the academics. The teachers were strict but inside them had a human heart and not the one loaded with commercial zest in present day teachers. I'm reminded of an episode during my high schooling. It was when Qazi Saifuddin as Principal of M P Higher School Bagh-i-Dilawar Khan Srinagar called for me to his chamber. Incidentally I used to be class monitor of 10th "D". I thought that it was something to do with my duty as such. I was crest fallen when I saw our form master Pt Prem Nath Mahanoori along with one of my colleague Abdul Gani Dobhi who was being reprimanded for submitting, directly to the principal, a complaint against a teacher. I was called because it was revealed by Abdul Gani that he had got this application drafted and written by me. For encouraging indiscipline I was handed down two cane charges on my left upper arm. However I was ordered to stay back. As soon as the other left his office Qazi sahib, otherwise a great disciplinarian stood up and patted my at the spot I was hit with remarks that some times one has to take unpleasant decisions while discharging one's duties and continued. I was pleased to read draft of the application “don't get discouraged ". I'm in tears of awe and respect for that great soul while I narrate the incident today and am in tears.
