WOMAN SI’S DEATH CASE
GK NEWS NETWORK
Jammu, Aug 24: Suspecting foul play in the death of Puneet Kour, a woman trainee Sub-Inspector who died under mysterious circumstances in Police Training Academy (PTA) Udhampur on August 21, the activists of various Sikh organizations on Wednesday staged a demonstration and demanded an inquiry to unravel the mystery into the incident.
Scores of Sikh youth assembled in front of Jammu Press Club and raised, slogans demanding a judicial probe by a retired judge to bring out the facts.
“Puneet Kour was found dead under mysterious circumstance. Police said that she committed suicide by hanging herself in her room at PTA Udhampur. This is totally wrong as she could not commit suicide,” angry Sikh youth said, adding “The matter should be thoroughly investigated either by a retired judge or special investigation team (SIT) to unravel the mystery,” they said.
Pertinently on August 21, Puneet Kour of Lower Gadi Garh was allegedly found hanging in her room. Police said the sub-inspector had committed suicide but did not give any reason that instigated her to take such an extreme step. She was the lone sister of three brothers.
“She didn’t hang herself as she had telephonically given a message to her mother on August 20, a day before her death, about two state holidays. The story of her hanging was completely wrong. It was the duty of the PTA administration to provide security and safety and look after of a woman police trainee inside the academy,” they said.
