CBI produces chargesheet against 12 persons
MULTI-CRORE RURAL ELECTRIFICATION SCAM
Jammu, Aug 25: Central Bureau of Investigation (Anticorruption Bureau) Thursday presented Charge-sheet against a dozen persons, including two Chief Engineers of NHPC, in alleged multi-core scam of rural electrification.
The CBI in its 175 pages charge-sheet has accused the officials of NHPC and private contractors, for using sub-standard material during the execution of more than Rs 38 Crores Electrification Contract under Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojna (RGGVY) for villages of Below Poverty Line (BPL) category in Udhampur district.
The contract was awarded by NHPC to M/s Larsen and Toubro Limited for supply of material to the tune of Rs 29.06 crores and for execution erection work for Rs 9 Crores.
The challan was produced against Babu Lal Gupta then Chief Engineer NHPC, Ashok Kumar Pandey then Chief Engineer NHPC, Madan Gopal Sharma then Assistant Manager, Subash chander Nayyar then Deputy Manager, Shiv Chand Ram then Senior Manager, Vijay Kumar Jain then ED (T&RE) NHPC, Rajesh Singh then Assistant Manager NHPC, Ram Dayal Manager M/S L&T, SK Chakraborty Sector Project Manager L&T, M/s Larsen and Tourbo Ltd and Shahsandra Dwivedi MD M/S Dee Control Pvt Ltd.
It was the first challan produced by the CBI in the special court designated for the agency in the state.
