Al-Farooq Colony complains of drainage mess
Srinagar, Aug 27: Residents of Al- Farooq Colony Bemina here have complained that drainage network in the area hasn’t been cleared for past many years rendering it defunct.
“More than two feet silt has accumulated in the drain and flow of the small links has been blocked. A slight shower turns our colony into a cesspool and movement of residents becomes impossible,” the residents said.
The inhabitants said that they had apprised the Superintending Engineer UEED about the problem in July this year.
The residents led by President Abdul Majeed said the SE had marked the application for the concerned Executive Engineer asking him to take “immediate steps… to give relief to the applicants.” In response the Engineer had asked the AEE to “visit the site and report.”
“But till now, no action has been taken,” said a local Gulzar Ahmed flanked by others. “The overflowing drains have made our lives miserable and something must be done at an earliest because we have been at the receiving end,” they said.
