Leh to get 2-Archery Centres: Chib
Srinagar, Aug 27: Minister for Medical Education, Youth Services & Sports, R.S. Chib said that centre government has sanctioned two Archery Centres for Leh district to tap the existing archery potential in the area.
This was stated by the Minister at a meeting convened to review the functioning of Technical Education, Youth Services & Sports in LAHDC, Leh on Saturday.
Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC, Leh ,Rigzin Spalbar, Director Technical Education, Sourab Bhagat, Director Youth Services & Sports, S. Jaipal Singh, Deputy Commissioner Leh and officers from district administration were also present in the meeting.
Chib said it is a matter of great satisfaction that the people of Ladakh in general and the people of Leh district in particular faced the devastating challenge posed by flash-floods during the year 2010.
He expressed his satisfaction over the pace of construction of Ice Hockey Rink at Leh which is coming up an estimated cost of Rs 9.5 crore under PMRP. He directed the executing agency that first surface of the Rink should be made ready to hold “CEC CUP” in December 2011 respectively.
Chief Executive Councillor, Rigzin Spalbar raised certain issues regarding implementation of PYKKA and filling vacant posts of PEM in the district.
Chib assured that positive steps shall be taken to overcome these issues. He said that Government Polytechnic College shall have an independent principal in a shortest time. However, he said that department of Youth Services & Sports shall come forward to provide adequate Archery equipments so that the existing potential in all the 9 blocks could be exploited fully.
