Army holds ex-servicemen rally, medical camp
Srinagar: Army organised an ex-servicemen rally and a medical camp at Chowkibal Kupwara on Monday
According to Defence communiqué, the rally turned out to be a success owing to the overwhelming response by the veteran soldiers and locals. “At the venue, a number of kiosks were established to provide useful information to the ex-servicemen regarding the welfare schemes introduced by the central and state Governments, employment opportunities and ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme. Additional Counters of Canteen Stores Department (CSD), Army Insurance Policies, Banking,” it said.
The communiqué said a medical camp was also organised on the occasion. The five medical officers from Army and civil administration including an eye specialist, dentist, and a gynecologist examined and treated nearly 360 males, 342 females and 231 children, the communiqué said adding the common ailments treated during the medical camp were hypertension, anemia, asthma, pregnancy related problems and dental problems. Free medicines were also distributed to the needy, the communiqué added.
