Mirwaiz, AJK PM urge UN to send fact-finding mission to JK

Muzaffarabad, Aug 29: Chairman of Hurriyat Conference (M) Mirwaz Umar Farooq and AJK Prime Minister Chaudhry Abdul Majeed on Monday called upon the United Nations to send a ‘Fact-Finding Mission’ to Jammu and Kashmir to investigate the issue of unmarked graves.
Speaking to each other by telephone, the two leaders resolved to devise a joint effective and comprehensive strategy to work towards achieving the international acknowledged right to self determination of the Kashmiri people, according to an official handout.
While updating the AJK premier on the crucial situation prevailing in the Kashmir, the Mirwaiz maintained that there was no letup in the determination of Kashmiris.
“Kashmiris are resolute and will carry forward their struggle till its logical end,” the Mirwaiz was quoted as having told the AJK premier.
On his part, the AJK premier paid glowing tributes to the people of Kashmir for their heroic struggle and vowed that his government will expedite political and diplomatic efforts in the coming days to convince the international community help resolve Kashmir issue according to the wishes of its people.
He also extended an invitation to Mirwaiz to visit AJK at his convenience which was accepted by the latter.
Earlier, the Mirwaiz felicitated Majeed on his election as AJK Prime Minister and expressed the hope that under his stewardship linkages between the Kashmiri leadership on both sides of the artificial divide would further strengthen.
The Mirwaiz also eulogized the role and services of PPP leaders Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto for projection of Kashmir cause in the most effective and impressive manners.
