Hurriyat (G) for protests on Friday

Srinagar, Aug 3: Hurriyat Conference (G) Wednesday called for peaceful protests across the Kashmir valley on August 5, after Friday prayers against Sopore custodial killing, incidents of crime against women at Kulgam and Pattan and continued detention of political detainees.
In a statement today, a spokesman of the amalgam warned New Delhi to put an immediate halt to the alleged atrocities on people of Kashmir.
The spokesman thanked the people for observing complete shutdown on Wednesday. He alleged that the government was trying to impose a graveyard like silence in Kashmir at the gun point.
The spokesman warned that the situation could take any turn if the government failed to punish to the killers of Nazim Rashid and those involved in the killing of 117 youth during 2010 agitation. He demanded punishment to the perpetrators of crime against women at Kulgam and Pattan areas, lifting of restrictions on the political activities of pro-freedom leaders including Syed Ali Shah Geelani and unconditional release of all political detainees.
