SICOP clocks all time high `651 cr turnover

Srinagar, Aug 3: J&K Small Scale Industries Development Corporation (SICOP) has achieved an all time high business turnover of Rs 651.43 crore during last fiscal which is 27 per cent up from Rs 512.37 crore registered during 2009-10. The corporation has been given a business target of Rs 700 crore for the current fiscal.
This was stated at the 82nd meeting of the Board of Directors of the J&K SICOP held here today under the chairmanship of the Minister for Industries & Commerce, S S Slathia, an official statement said.
The Minister asked the SICOP, one among few profit making Public Sector Undertakings in J&K, to continue marketing support to Small Scale Industrial Units with full vigor to ensure harmonious development of units all over the state.
He also directed for ensuring adequate availability of key materials to various units at their door steps through network of its business units in various districts. Government has reserved 20 items manufactured by local MSME for exclusive purchase through SICOP, Slathia added.
Necessary Government orders for marketing cover to SSI units have been issued even the treasuries have been asked to ensure implementation of such orders.
Slathia urged for time bound completion of Rs. 27 crore project of Udyog Bhawan at Bemina Srinagar, adding that it shall provide integrated services to the Industry of the State as Offices of all Heads of Departments and Corporations under the Administrative Control of industries and Commerce Department shall be accommodated under one roof.
Slathia while appreciating the SICOP management for good performance asked the other PSU’s to follow it adding that they should diversified their business activities to improve the financial health.
Managing Director SICOP R K Razdan informed the meeting that procurement and sale of Raw material and extension of marketing cover to SSI units is one of the important activities being carried out by the corporation further adding that raw material turnover during the last fiscal has been of the order of Rs. 498 crore and marketing turnover as about Rs. 133 crore.
Slathia urged that SICOP should ensure maintenance of quality parameters while making supplies. It was informed by Razdan that a proposal for the up gradation of testing centers at Zanakote, Gangyal and leh is underway while as mini testing centre is coming up IID Kathua
