Training prog for Panchs, Sarpanchs soon: Sagar
Srinagar, Aug 3: The Minister for Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, Law, Justice and parliamentary Affairs, Ali Muhammad Sagar today said a comprehensive programme to equip Panchs and Sarpanchs about the Panchayat Raj Act, public administration, governance and various flagship schemes for the Rural Development would be started very soon.
Chairing a meeting regarding the capacity building for the Panchayati Raj Institutions here, Sagar said the need of the hour was to fully train the recently elected representatives so that they could effetely discharge their functions and also understand the mechanism of effective implementation of various flagship schemes.
Sagar directed the Commissioner Secretary Rural Development Yadhullah to personally supervise the training programme to be conducted by the Institute of Management and Public Administration in coordination with the Department of Rural Development. He asked both to work in a synergized manner so that the training programme was carried out in a smooth and fruitful manner. “The process should be started with in a fortnight and IMPA should make a comprehensive training schedule, so that the officers/ officials of the Rural Development Department can easily make themselves available for the same and the whole programme should be completed within the shortest possible time”, he maintained.
It was given out in the meeting that the master trainers of Rural Development Department would be trained in IMPA who would further disseminate the required training programme to the district and Panchayat Halqa level to the recently elected Panchs and Sarpanchs and the whole process would be completed within a period of three months.
Pertinent to mention that about 38283 elected members of 1077 Panchayats would be imparted the training so that they can easily equip themselves with the Panchayati Raj Act as well as effective implementation of various flagship schemes of the Rural Development Department.
Director General IMPA, R K Jerth, Directors Rural Development, Jammu, Kashmir, M Y Zargar, Jahangir Mir and other senior officers of IMPA and Rural Development were present.
