‘Pak arrested over 3,000 militants in 3 years’

Islamabad: As many as 3,143 militants were arrested during the past three years in Pakistan, a minister said.
Interior Minister Rehman Malik Wednesday informed the National Assembly that 4,240 arms were seized from the arrested.
He said that 231 militants were arrested in Punjab, 145 in Sindh, 2,101 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 343 in Balochistan, 130 in Islamabad, 106 in Gilgit-Baltistan and 80 in FATA, reported Associated Press of Pakistan.
Pakistan has been hit by a string of terror attacks, specially after the May 2 killing of Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden in Abbottabad.
To another question, Malik said 505 people were killed and 1720 injured in terrorist attacks in Punjab in the past two years. IANS
