Alleged negligence causes one more death at Jmu hospital
Jammu, Aug 4: As another case of alleged medical negligence leading to death of a woman, hailing from remote area of Doda district, surfaced at SMGS hospital here the administration of Government Medical College Jammu has ordered a probe in the matter.
As per an official, officiating Principal Government Medical College, Jammu, has constituted a three-member committee of doctors to look into the allegations of death of a women at Shri Maharaja Gulab Singh (SMGS) Hospital due to the negligence of doctors.
The committee, comprising HOD Gyane SMGS Hospital, Dr Shashi Gupta, Prof ENT SMGS Hospital Dr Dinesh Gupta and Medical Superintendent, SMGS Hospital Dr A K Sharma has been directed to look into the allegations and submit the report within three days for further appropriate action.
Pertinently a young pregnant woman died allegedly due to negligence of doctors at the hospital, immediately after giving birth to a male child, late last evening.
Identified as Nusrat Begam of Gandoh area in Bhaderwah the woman was admitted in the hospital after she developed acute labour pain.
The family members alleged that the doctors on duty failed to attend her in time leading to her death. “We repeatedly requested the doctors to attend her as she was crying with pain”, husband of the woman claimed adding, “After around an hour Nusrat was taken to labour room where she gave birth to a male child but breathed her last”.
The doctors, however, claimed that the woman was suffering from cardiac aliments. “Her history revealed that she was a cardiac patient and was advised by the doctors not to have second child”, a doctor claimed.
