Establishment of KVKs reviewed

Srinagar, Aug 4: Minister for Agriculture, Ghulam Hassan Mir today reviewed the establishment of Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) in the state, at a high level meeting chaired by him here this morning.
For the establishment of KVKs in different districts of the Valley, the meeting was informed that land for KVK, Islamabad (Ananthnag), Shopian, Budgam has been identified and the papers has also been forwarded to divisional Commissioner Kashmir for the allotment of land.
For the establishment of KVK at Kupwara, the meeting directed the divisional commissioner, Kashmir to identify the land for the same. Similarly the Deputy Commissioners Leh and Kargil have been directed to identify the land for the establishment of KVKs at Nobra and Zansakar at the earliest.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister directed Divisional Commissioner to complete the legal formalities as soon as possible so that land is allocated. He said that the establishment of KVKs would help to boost the agriculture production on modern lines.
Among others, who were present in the meeting include, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Additional Commissioner , Kashmir Director Horticulture, Kashmir, Director Agriculture , Kashmir, Director Extension SKUSAT(K) and other senior officers of SKUAST, Horticulture, Agriculture and revenue.
