Punish them

This refers to the news “Family accuses police of cover-up.” The Sopore incident has shattered people across the Valley. The family members of Nazim Rashid have clearly stated that they have no hope that justice would be delivered to them. The Government must look into the family allegations that police was destroying the evidence, and the cops against whom action was claimed to have been taken by the government, are still serving in Sopore. How can the Government lie that they have been punished and placed under suspension if they are roaming free? Though the Government has transferred the SP in the area, it is not enough. Those who are behind the death must be identified publicly. Custodial killing is a gross violation of human rights. Over the years, there has not been a single instance when such killings have not been protested in Kashmir. How can police be so callous and resort to this inhuman treatment to a human being? This is sheer hooliganism which no democratic government can tolerate. The Government must identify the officials who are hell bent on destroying the evidence. Such a thing can cause further distrust between the government and the family which is demanding justice.
