Panthers Party, Salvation Movement condemn Sopore killing
Srinagar, Aug 5: Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party has described the killing of Sopore youth Nazim Rashid in police custody as a “barbaric and most inhuman act.”
A party statement issued here said the Provincial President of the JKNPP Farooq Ahmad Dar described as hoax the state and central government’s claims of zero tolerance to the human rights violations. “Each time an innocent is killed by police, an enquiry commission is appointed. But what happened to hundreds of enquiry commissions instituted before?” Dar asked.
The statement said Professor Bhim Singh, in a tele-message from Japan has also condemned the Sopore killing. “Transferring inspectors and suspending Havalders will serve no purpose,” Singh said, demanding that the Chief Minister “should accept the failure of his administration and resign on moral grounds.”
Meanwhile a spokesman of Salvation Movement strongly condemned the custodial killing of Nazim Rashid, describing it as a heinous crime.
The spokesman also condemned the continued house detention of the party chairman Zaffar Akber Bhat from past Sunday. “This suppression through armed forces cannot weaken the ongoing liberation movement in Kashmir,” the spokesman said.
