Jammu, Aug 7: Minister of State for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution and Power, Shabir Ahmad Khan directed CA&PD authorities to keep close vision on black marketing and undue profiteering at all market so that people especially during Ramdan month not cheated by black marketers and vested shopkeepers.
The Minister during his interaction with deputationists of Bhatindi, Gujjar Nagar, Ustad Mohalla and Tallab Khatikan, Jammu was apprised that shopkeepers of their areas charges undue profit while selling essential commodities to the people especially during Ramdan and CA&PD authorities not paid heed on their complaints.
Minister retreated that providing of essential commodities and other domestic use items on controlled rate is also the prime duty of the Government. He cautioned that nobody would be allowed to play with sentiments of consumer rights.
The Minister while expressing displeasure over poor performance of CA&PD authorities in controlling the rates of several edible items especially during Ramdan cautioned black marketer and profiteers to shun this practice otherwise stringent action would be taken against those shopkeepers who found involved in cheat consumers.
The Minister issued strict instruction Director’s CA&PD Jammu and Kashmir Province to activate market checking squads keep close vigil on black marketing and ensure that rate of each item should be displayed on front of each shop. He asked that stringent action under law should be taken against arraying business establishment.
The Minister also called upon the functionaries of CA&PD to be punctual and careful on their duties so that rationees would not face any in convinces while getting their ration at sale outlets. ‘No officers or officials spared found absent during duty on his surprised inspection for which drive started from today, he cautioned’.
“Shortage of ration at any sale outlet especially during Ramzan month would not be tolerated, for which strict action to be taken against the concerned official”, he warned
