Employees’ strike
This refers to news that the government employees have intensified their agitation against the government and a state level employees’ body has called for march to Civil Secretariat on September 8 to protest for release of their arrears and fulfillment of other demands. The 4.5 lakh employees work force is a big number which is represented by Joint Consultative Committee. They go on strike frequently hitting the work in government offices, where people ultimately face huge inconvenience. Now they have again called for complete pen down strike on September 6, 7 and 8. What is the Government doing to fulfill their demands? The Government always makes promises that such protests won’t reoccur. But every time the employees are forced to go on strike and take to streets. This is highly unfortunate people the government is ultimately causing problems to people who are not able to get their work done in government offices during strikes. JCC is demanding
revisit by the government on roadmap for release of arrears due to employees since January 2006, enhancement in retirement age to 60 years from the present 58 and regularisation of all daily wagers. The Government can at least constitute a committee to look into their demands so that this confrontation ends once and for all. If the demands are genuine, they must be met.
