Institute commission to probe HR violations: Tarigami
Jammu, Dec 9: State Secretary CPI (M) ad MLA Kulgam, M Y Tarigami, Frid called for joint resolve to protect and promote human rights in Jammu and Kashmir.
He highlighted the need to have an independent, impartial and credible commission in place to bring truth to fore about the gross human rights violations that took place during the last two decades of turmoil in the State.
In a statement issued on the eve of Human Rights Day, he said cycle of violence, terror and counter terror in the past led to trampling of human rights in Jammu and Kashmir with edifice of rights like human dignity, equality and freedom becoming first casualty. The probe, he said is a must for evolving an effective mechanism to promote democracy and uphold human dignity in future.
