Farm machinery mela held

Kulgam, Dec 11: Director Agriculture Kashmir Dr Farooq Ahmad Lone has impressed upon the farmers to adopt latest technology in Agriculture to increase production, productivity and thereby their economic status.
This was stated by Director Agriculture while inaugurating Farm Machinery Mela cum Mass Awareness Programme at Chowgam, Qazigund today.
He said that the development of Agriculture and welfare of farming community is top priority of the Department.
He said the objective of organizing Kissan Mela and Farm Machinery Mela throughout valley is to acquaint the farmers with Modern Agriculture Machinery, Tools & Equipments and also help them to avail benefits of various schemes at their doorsteps.
On this occasion Chief Agriculture Officer, Nazir Ahmad Qazi said the main aim of Farm Machinery Mela is to make farmers aware about various Schemes launched by Agriculture Department and facilitate farmers to select the Agriculture machinery and equipments to their own choice at negotiated rates from authorized dealers. Stalls of various authorized dealers were setup in the Mela.
On this occasion, farmers purchased 50 Irrigation Pump sets, 1 Power tiller, 3 tractors, 70 foot sprayers, 2 cultivators & 2 levelers besides scores of manual equipments on which Rs 8.00 lakh subsidy was provided by the Department, an official statements said.
Director Agriculture also distributed cheques amounting to Rs 9.00 lakh among 122 beneficiaries who had purchased Agriculture Machinery in the Melas held recently by the Department at Kulgam and Kelam.
