‘Medical science, health care priority sectors for dev’
Srinagar, Dec 12: Department of Science and Technology, Government of India has identified medical sciences and health care as one of the major priority sectors for development.
The Department which is currently in the process of formulating Technology Vision 2035 has constituted a high-powered Advisory Committee to steer and guide medical sciences and health-care sector under the chairmanship of Dr. Selvamurthi, Chief Controller, R D (Life Sciences), Ministry of Defence.
The other members of this Advisory Committee include: Prof V M Katoch, Director General ICMR, Amrish Kumar, Advisor (Health), Planning Commission, Dr V C Padaki, Director, Defense Engineering and Electro-medical Lab, Banglore and Dr Abdul Hamid Zargar, former Director Sheri-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences, Srinagar.
The Advisory Committee will co-ordinate the activity of range of experts and stakeholders and finalize the health-care needs of the nation in decades to come. The first meeting of the Advisory Committee is scheduled on December 16.
