Advocating liquor sale
Income alone doesn't matter, sensitivities have a value
FEEDBACK BY HAJI ABDUL MAJEED WANI
This refers to the recent statement issued by Dr Farooq Abdullah on the 106 birth anniversary of his father. Dr Farooq advocated the free sale of liquor which clearly speaks of NC policy for creating new sources of income. His party ensured the free liquor trade during 1978 with permission of state assembly. Our Molvis and Muftis who observed silence on this issue and prayed for the success of party leaders at Dargah Sharief and at other sacred places need appreciation. NC took a strong stand with the centre during Murarji Desai's, (the then Prime Minister of India) tenure who desired to impose the ban on the free trade of liquor. I remember well his speech in presence of Chief Minister of the state at Golden Temple where he declared that if ban on the liquor trade will bring an end to his government it will be a source of pleasure to him. NC introduced all measures for bringing better economy and never bothered about the religious sentiments of the people.
I suggest NC President that every Sarpanch of his party may be provided free license of liquor trade and if possible subsidy may be granted as it's granted on other item like they did it during Sadiq regime. Insha-Allah very shortly you will find them singing like you in big streets and lanes of the valley. This will serve a big source of publicity of NC plan for the betterment of the people and silence of Molvis and Muftis on this issue means a hidden support /contribution for the sale of liquor. Moreover the Molvis and Muftis are requested to keep people engaged in sectarian disputes so that NC may be able to carry on its mission without any hindrance. The other historical blessings of NC to the people of state especially residents of Srinagar city and youth of Kashmir is appreciable i.e. Public Safety Act, Task Force, Liberal Marriage Policy (No consideration of religion) and new recruitment policy.
If our Molvis and Muftis carry on this silent policy on important issues, shortly we will religion literally banished from the valley. NC leadership has brought disaster on all counts and this is the latest one.
