Congress pays tribute to Sadiq, Mir Lasjan, Qasim

Srinagar, Dec 12: The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Monday observed the death anniversary of its leaders GM Sadiq, Syed Mir Qasim and Ghulam Muhammad Mir (Lasjan) in a function at Banquet Hall in the City.
 On the occasion senior Congress leaders, district and block presidents, and hundreds of party workers were present who remembered their leaders: former Chief Ministers Syed Mir Qasim and GM Sadiq, and former Cabinet Minister Ghulam Muhammad Mir.Terming the leaders the true torch bearers of the party General Secretary, JKPCC and son of Mir Lasjan, Ghulam Nabi Mir said they “taught us the true lesson of democracy and equality.” “Thousands of congress workers and freedom fighters are suffering as their cases are pending with the government for want of the compensation,” he said.
 Speaking on the occasion Education Minister Peerzada Muhammad Sayeed said the leaders had spread the movement of secularism in J&K. “The leaders faced tough times during Tarki Mawalaat (social boycott) in 1964. But they didn’t hesitate to lead the party,” he said. Senior congress leaders Ghulam Nabi Kar, Muhammad Muzaffar Parray, Abdul Hamid, Senior Vice President Bashir A Magray, District President Srinagar, Abdul Gani Khan, Ali Muhammad Sofi, Master Muhammad Maqbool Parray, Master Abdul Gani and GM Naik also paid tributes to deceased leaders.
