Stay away from Marcos or face ban: JKFA to players
To Organise Winter Football Event
ABID KHAN
Srinagar, Dec 12: Giving its ongoing tussle with Brazilian Coach Juan Marcos Trio a new twist the J&K Football Association (JKFA) has asked all its registered players and clubs to stay away from the activities organised by the coach or face ban.
To counter the activities of Marcos, the JKFA held an emergency meeting here on Monday. In the meeting apart from deliberating on the Marcos issue the JKFA officials discussed various issues pertaining to keep football activities alive in the Valley during winter.
The reaction of JKFA has come in the wake of recent statement released by International Sports Academy Trust (ISAT) run by Marcos in which it has announced to organise coaching camps across Valley. The ISAT Football Development Program and ‘Peace Pandemic’ in collaboration with State Sports Council is going to conduct football coaching camp shortly in the Valley.
The statement issued by JKFA reads: “We inform all the district units and registered players to stay away from the activities, coaching camps organised by Marcos. Those who will not abide by the directions of the Association will face action according to the constitution.”
“The JKFA has already cancelled the registration of Marcos’ football club ISAT and the coaching camps organised by him. In that perspective if the said coach organises any activity that does not fall under the jurisdiction and purview of the JKFA. If any player, club supports or be part of the activities being conducted by the coach, that official, club or players will automatically qualify for the suspension under the constitution acts,” the statement further reads.
Pertinently the tough stand from the JKFA comes after Sports Minister RS Chib recently made comments regarding JKFA-Marcos relation.
Chib on the occasion of function hosted by Marcos had said that the Brazilian coach doesn’t require to follow JKFA rules and for the promotion of game rules can be relaxed.
He further went on to say that if JKFA doesn’t support Marcos, ‘Government will.’
To that JKFA parted ways with the said coach and cancelled registration of his clubs and coaching camps.
In the meeting the JKFA office bearers have also decided to organise winter football tournament in the last week of the December. The event would be organised in the Valley and it will help Association to keep football activities alive during harsh winter months.
