FCIK invited to Indo-Finnish Business Forum

Srinagar, Dec 13: A delegation of the Federation Chamber of Industries Kashmir (FCIK) today held an interactive session with a Finland delegation here.
The foreign delegation was led by Ms Terhi Hakala, ambassador of Finland to India.
Ms Hakala informed the FCIK delegation that her country was interested in investing in J&K’s energy, water and forest sectors, N A Shikari, Secretary General, FCIK told Greater Kashmir.
He said Debashish Mazumdar, Director Development & Financial Services (Power Plants) of Wartisila Corporation of Finland informed the FCIK delegation the as per their study the production lost by the power interruptions is not only loss to the industrialists but has a cascading effect resulting in huge loss to the state.
As per his calculations the loss to the state due to one KW power interruption to the industry varies between Rs 34 to Rs 110, he said.
The Finnish delegation, Shikari said, informed that they are interested in installing small and medium size gas and Oil based power generating stations in collaboration with local Industrial entrepreneurs at Industrial estate levels.
Mazumdar, according to Shikari, said they have already installed many such power plants in India aggregating 4500 MW.
There are many Finnish investors who have provided soft loans to these projects in addition to investing directly.
The ambassador invited the FCIK delegation to the Embassy of Finland in New Delhi to have further discussions in the Indo Finnish Business Forum (IFBF).
The FCIK delegation was led by Muhammad Ashraf Mir (senior vice president).
Among others the delegation comprised of Javaid Ahmad Bhat (vice president), Nazir Ahmad Shikari (secretary General), Mukhtar Yousuf (Joint Secretary General) and Ghulam Jeelani (secretary Publicity).
