Hizb pays tributes to Shams-ul-Haq
Srinagar, Dec 15: Hizb-ul- Mujahideen, at a meeting of its central command council held today with its supreme commander Syed Salah-ud-Din in chair, paid glowing tributes to the memory of Shaheed Ghulam Muhammad Mir alias Shams-ul-Haq on his martyrdom anniversary.
Speaking on the occasion, Salah-ud-Din hailed the invaluable services and sacrifices of Shaheed Shams-ul-Haq to the ongoing freedom movement. “Shams-ul-Haq, who had done his post graduation in four subjects, spurned the government service and joined Jama’at-e-Islami Jammu Kashmir. He discharged his duties and responsibilities in a nice way as amir tehsil Jama’at-e-Islami in Budgam district. He was one of the founder members of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen and played a key role in preparing the outfit constitution and manifesto. He worked at amir Hizb and nazim-i-Taleemat in the base camp. He was great scholar and practical Muslim who used to spend nights in prayers and days in the activities of Jihad,” he said, adding that Shams-ul-Haq achieved martyrdom on December 16, 1993, in a fierce encounter with the armed forces at Watarpora, Budgam, in central Kashmir.
The meeting, according to a statement issued today by the outfit spokesman Salim Hashmi from Pakistan administered Kashmir, offered special prayers for Shams-ul-Haq and other martyrs, reiterating the pledge to take their mission to its logical end.
