IGP offers job to Tariq’s kin
Srinagar, Dec 16: The Inspector General of Police Kashmir Range, S M Sahai, on Friday said that police would provide a job to one of the family members of Tariq Ahmed Bhat, who succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday after being beaten by a group of youth on December 3 in old city.
Sahai, accompanied by SSP City, Ashiq Bukhari visited Tariq’s residence this morning and expressed solidarity with the bereaved family.
Talking to a vernacular news agency KNS Sahai said, “Police will provide job to one family member of the deceased. Tariq sacrificed his life for peace and his sacrifice won’t go waste. If Tariq’s family agrees we are ready to pay relief to them,” he added.
Sahai said that police would take tough action against those who indulge in damaging public life and property.
“Some vested interests are exploiting young boys and instigating them to pelt stones and indulge in other criminal activities. Police will not shy away from taking tough action against those who indulge in such activities,” Sahai said.
The IGP said that during the 2010 summer unrest, people cooperated fully with the police. “It is because of peoples’ cooperation that situation remained peaceful in 2011. Now people are openly opposing those who want to sabotage peace and tranquility,” he added.
