Protest against seizure of TeH calendars rocks Islamabad
GK NEWS NETWORK
Islamabad (Anantnag), Dec 16: Scores of youth took to the streets in this south Kashmir town on Friday to protest against the seizure of calendars and diaries printed by Tehreek-e-Hurriyat.
Witnesses said that as soon as the congregation prayers concluded people in large numbers gathered outside Hanfia Jamia Masjid and staged a massive pro-freedom demonstration.
Later the president of Umat-i-Islami, and Mirwaiz south Kashmir, Qazi Ahmad Yasir led a procession that concluded at Lal Chowk.
Addressing protesters, Yasir condemned the seizing of TeH calendars and termed it as undemocratic. “The government is adopting every repressive measure to suppress the voices but it should bear it in mind that these tactics won’t break our resolve and we will carry forward the movement.”
Yasir also castigated the Union Minster, Dr Farooq Abdullah for proposing that cinema halls and liquor shops should be reopened in the Valley. “Under a well planned conspiracy New Delhi wants our youth to fall prey to drugs and other social evils and forget about their basic rights but our conscious society will fight their evil designs tooth and nail,” he added.
