Workshop on voluntary work concludes at KU

Srinagar Dec 16: A 3-Day workshop on Voluntary Work and Child Development, organized by Directorate of Lifelong Learning (DLL), University of Kashmir concluded Friday.
The workshop, a KU handout said, was aimed to involve voluntary organizations working in the Valley to come “on the common platform to work on various modalities for the upliftment of the children of weaker sections.”
Various aspects of voluntary work, including role and problems faced by the children with special needs were discussed threadbare in many technical sessions by the experts from various fields of voluntary work.
“PowerPoint presentations related to disabilities among children, their rehabilitation, inclusive education and multiple schemes and welfare programmes of Social Welfare Department for the children were presented in the workshop,” the KU PRO said.
The conclusive session of the workshop was presided over by Dean Social Sciences, University of Kashmir Prof MA Wani. He lauded the role played by DLL in “reaching to the unreached section of the society and stressed upon all the stakeholders of voluntary work to organize such workshops in future also for the greater benefit of the society.”
Many experts including Prof AG Madhosh, Director DLL, Dr G H Mir, Chairman IRRT, Advocate AR Hunjura, District Social Welfare Officer, Ganderbal, Qazi Irfan, Chairman, Humanity Welfare organization, Javed Tak , Associate-Professor, CRC, Dr Zaffar Iqbal, representatives from Madar-e Meharban Welfare Institute, Miskeen Bagh, various NGO’s and faculty members of DLL attended the workshop.
Programme Incharge, Dr Shinera Sajad concluded the proceedings with a Vote of Thanks.
Later, certificates were distributed among the participants of the workshop.
