Srinagar, Dec 21: Director Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Soura, Prof Showkat Zargar, today directed the management of SKIMS Medical College Hospital at Bemina here to improve service in its casualty.
“I visited the casualty on Sunday and saw a sole resident examining and treating hundreds of patients. The resident had till that time examined 150 patients alone,” Prof Zargar said while addressing a seminar on medical education at SKIMS Medical College Bemina here.
The seminar was organized by the Students Cultural Academic and Sports Social Secretary Union.
On the occasion, the Director asked the Principal SKIMS Medical College to ensure availability of senior doctors in the hospital during Sundays. “I won’t hesitate to take action against those who won’t perform duties on the day,” Prof Zargar added.
The seminar was aimed at discussing newer innovations in medical education and varied challenges faced by doctors in Kashmir.
In her presentation, Dr Rubeena Lone said feedback was the most important factor in growth of students’ competence. “Teachers and students always bypass important things. Evaluation does not describe a students’ intelligence. Feedback has to be most important factor in teaching of medicine,” she said.
