GoI sitting on report: Dr Beg
Srinagar, Dec 22: Member Parliament and senior National Conference leader Dr Mehboob Beg on Thursday asked New Delhi to make the interlocutors’ report public.
“When entire Kashmir was on boil and Kashmiri youth were protesting in streets, Government of India appointed three reputed interlocutors to look into prevailing alienation among youth. They visited all the three regions of the state and talked to various sections of the society. The interlocutors submitted interim reports time to time and they submitted the final report on October 12, 2011. The Government of India is sitting on the document and has not made anything public,” Dr Beg said during Zero Hour in Lok Sabha today.
“People want to know what the interlocutors recommended to address alienation and what steps GoI is going to take to act on these recommendations. Reportedly interlocutors have urged the Government to restore autonomy, devolution of powers at regional and sub-regional levels and many other measures. The GoI without wasting any time should make this report public,” Dr Beg said.
